water is the source of life; electricity is the necessity of our living .each lawn can cheer up our heart and soul .every animal is a creature in the nature . are you sure that you save a drip of water in your daily life ? it is reported that the water resource per capita in beijing is less than 300 cube meters, representing one eighth of the per capita level of china and one thirtieth of the world per capita level. even worse, the underground water in some regions is absolutely undrinkable. water pollution and water shortage have hindered beijing"s development seriously. the saying of "don"t make the last drop water be human"s own tear" is by no means a deliberately e_aggeration so as to create a sensation. if i was an environment protection worker, i would enact the law of environment protect strictly and check the pollution with all my perseverance. if i was a sewage treatment engineer, i would develop the most advanced sewage treatment equipment in the world that can be used to filter all the sewage into clean water. a pot of water can be used three or four times in my family . first , i use the fresh water to wash rice and then use it to wash my face .it′s reported that it is a good way to beautify my face . at last ,i use this water which is a kind of good fertilization to irrigate flowers .as a student in dianye middle school,we not only protect the water but also research the vegetation around us. last summer holiday, with the teachers"help,we had a survey about the vegetation in shidu .we found fifty-eight species of plants were near e_tinction. it"s a so large number! we reported it to the government and gave them three kinds of reasonable advices at once. are you sure that you turn off the light when it is unnecessary whether you are at school 、 at factory or at home ? when you want to spit in public places , do you think of the sars in 2003 ? when you walk in the park and see the colorful flowers , do you pick them off and arrogate to yourself ? when you walk through the school porch , do you draw everywhere ? when you walk into restaurants and see all kinds of creatures become so-called delicious dishes of human beings, does the dreadful scene make your heart and soul tremble? after all, they are all the living things just like our human beings! the comfortable environment around us needs to be created by every one of us!my friends , join us! devote yourself to the protection of our environment . try to make our sky bluer, our ground greener and our water cleaner. the 2008 green olympic will become reality. i"m sure we chinese will be proud of it ! in addition, this is the responsibility of every chinese .thank you ！

beijing ever since beijing bid for it years ago. yet the

focus has shifted from making a

promise to making good a promise after beijing’s

successful bid. in my opinion, to

bridge the gap between a promise and reality, beijing

still has a long way to go. here

are some of my ideas on how to fill that gap.

by inch while discharging dark fumes into the air

had given all of us a really

bad impression, and i know that none of us wish

to show off that side of

beijing to athletes and journalists over the world,

it would blemish the city’s image and leave a

bad reputation. so we have to work real hard

on green olympics.

你可曾見到過(guò)動(dòng)物哭泣？你可曾知道它們?yōu)槭裁纯奁?？正是因?yàn)槲覀儾回?fù)責(zé)任的行為，讓世界變得骯臟，讓這些可愛的動(dòng)物們哭泣不止。我們清楚的知道，如果沒有了動(dòng)物和植物，我們的世界將會(huì)變得多么死寂，多么灰暗但是有些人仍然固執(zhí)的犯著同樣的錯(cuò)誤??破壞環(huán)境，執(zhí)迷不悟！

更糟糕的是，人們熱衷于品嘗野生動(dòng)物。食用野生動(dòng)物的人不知道，更不會(huì)想知道，正是這種行為導(dǎo)致了很多特殊問題的出現(xiàn)。例如：醫(yī)學(xué)家已經(jīng)證實(shí)，舉世矚目的sars疾病，正是由于食用野生動(dòng)物傳播的。

in august ,2004, as the delegate of chinese teenagers, i participated in the olympic youth camp. from it, i learnt and got a lot.

in athens, i was not only into_icated on its long history and the deep humanity, but also impressed by the citizens" environmental awareness and shocked by the passion of the locals" for environmental protection.

with fewer metropolitan dins can be found in athens, the streets are neat indeed, for you will see no wastes on the road there. moreover, i seldom saw cleaners in athens, which impressed me very strongly. because what this phenomenon reflected is a kind of quality, character and also a sense of responsibility about the environment. which means, keeping the city clean is not only a governmental behavior, but a habit in the daily life of every athenian"s.

i still remember the picture that, an old lady took great trouble to bent over for picking up a piece of newspaper and sent it into a dustbin. when i asked why she did such hard work with her age.: "why not? " she said, just so simple. up to now, this picture still clearly e_ists in my mind for its embodied environmental consciousness and a national spirit.

throughout the days in athens, there were a series of educational activities about environment. in those items, we were working in groups discussing environmental problems of different aspects and also seeking the solutions. in addition, the items consisted of speeches of officers" of local ngos and the children"s paintings e_hibition as well. at the end of the activity, having reached common understanding, each of us has submitted suggestions and measures dealing with the promotion of the implement of sustainable development. i have to say, this series of activities really benefited me a great deal.

therefore, i have thought of beijing, thought of the year2008.

"green olympics" is one of three major ideas of running the 2008 olympic games. the main intension of this creed is to prepare and host olympic games under the guidance of sustainable development. and at the same time, try hard to improve the environmental quality of the capital.

actualy in beijing today. the sandstorm is coming rare and rare, and the greenery area is keeping increasing year by year. no one can deny that these changes are the result of all the beijingers" efforts. it obviously states that through the application and the preparation for 2008, the beijingers" environmental awareness has been strengthened greatly. but as the case stands, we still have a long way to go.

as a middle school student of a new era, we should take part in environmental protection and the implement of sustainable development more widely and e_tensively. indeed, environmental protection should start from dribs and drabs, but it is not enough only to stay on the surface. we have to realize today"s environmental problems more objectively and deeply .and we have to find out the obstruction and the danger we are facing. further more, only by considering the environmental problem as the point of sustainable development and globalization, shall we be able to arouse our consciousness and enthusiasm. i firmly believe that we will make the world a better place.

and now, i have a dream.

i have a dream that one day the earth will be free from contaminations；i have a dream that one day the nature and the human beings will coe_ist harmoniously and naturally; i have a dream that one day the blue sky and the verdure will always surround us; and i have a dream that one day the green will become eternity.

so, friends, let us join our hands and work together, meet in a green beijing, meet in 2008.

綠色北京 綠色奧運(yùn)

尊敬的評(píng)委，各位選手，女士們，先生們，大家早上好。

我很榮幸今天能有機(jī)會(huì)在此與大家共同交流，談一談我對(duì)綠色奧運(yùn)的一些想法。

2004年8月，作為中國(guó)的青年代表，我參加了雅典奧運(yùn)青年?duì)I活動(dòng)。本次雅典之旅著實(shí)讓我看到了許多、也學(xué)到了許多。

在雅典，除了陶醉于其悠久的歷史和深厚的人文，我更多地有感于當(dāng)?shù)厝说沫h(huán)境意識(shí)，震撼于他們對(duì)環(huán)保的熱忱。

雅典的街道盡管少了大都市的喧囂，但十分整潔，路面上沒有任何廢物。此外，在雅典我很少見到保潔人員，這對(duì)我觸動(dòng)很大。因?yàn)檫@現(xiàn)象所體現(xiàn)的是一種素質(zhì)，一種作為市民的對(duì)于環(huán)境的責(zé)任感?？梢姡谘诺?，環(huán)境的保潔已然不僅是政府行為，而真正成為了每一個(gè)雅典人的習(xí)慣。

一次我們外出參觀，見一位老婦人吃力地彎腰撿起一張被風(fēng)吹到腳下的報(bào)紙，并將其投入垃圾箱。當(dāng)我上前詢問這樣做有何理由時(shí)，老人的回答是："為什么不呢？"這句話讓我回味至今，這情景也讓我感觸良多。正如觀滴水可識(shí)江海，這一平凡邂逅所體現(xiàn)出的環(huán)境意識(shí)乃至民族精神著實(shí)引人深思。

在我們的青年?duì)I活動(dòng)中始終貫穿著一系列關(guān)于環(huán)保的教育活動(dòng)?；顒?dòng)中，所有的營(yíng)員以小組為單位，就不同層面的環(huán)境問題展開討論，尋求解決辦法，并最終達(dá)成共識(shí)。活動(dòng)中還不時(shí)安排有當(dāng)?shù)丨h(huán)境組織官員的演講和孩子們的圖畫作品展?；顒?dòng)結(jié)束時(shí)我們每人還提出了一份關(guān)于實(shí)施可持續(xù)發(fā)展的建議和措施，并在營(yíng)員中展開了交流。這一系列活動(dòng)讓我受益匪淺。

由此，我想到了北京，想到了2008。

"綠色奧運(yùn)"是北京舉辦2008年奧運(yùn)會(huì)的三大理念之一。其主要內(nèi)涵是在可持續(xù)發(fā)展思想的指導(dǎo)下籌備和舉辦奧運(yùn)會(huì)，提高首都環(huán)境質(zhì)量。

放眼今天的北京，沙塵天氣已是罕見，綠地面積也在逐年增加。不可否認(rèn)，這些變化是所有北京人共同努力的結(jié)果。它也說(shuō)明通過(guò)申辦和籌備奧運(yùn)，北京人的環(huán)境意識(shí)已大大增強(qiáng)。然而較之于一些國(guó)家，我們還有差距。

我認(rèn)為作為新時(shí)代的中學(xué)生，我們應(yīng)更廣泛、更深入地參加到保護(hù)環(huán)境和實(shí)施可持續(xù)發(fā)展的綠色行動(dòng)中。誠(chéng)然，環(huán)保要從點(diǎn)滴做起，但在我看來(lái)僅停留在不使用一次性筷子、撿拾廢棄物的層面是不夠的。作為實(shí)現(xiàn)綠色奧運(yùn)生力軍，我們應(yīng)更客觀、更深入地對(duì)當(dāng)今的環(huán)境問題有所了解，并以全球化及可持續(xù)發(fā)展的角度認(rèn)識(shí)環(huán)境問題及其對(duì)我國(guó)發(fā)展的阻礙和對(duì)人類生存的危害，從而真正喚起我們的主人意識(shí)和保護(hù)環(huán)境的熱情。而這則需要生態(tài)教育的進(jìn)一步深化和更多實(shí)踐活動(dòng)的開展。我堅(jiān)信，通過(guò)我們的共同努力，綠色將不再遙遠(yuǎn)。

此刻，我有一個(gè)夢(mèng)想。

thinking about a few years ago, when i saw the ta_onomic dustbin in our community for the first time, the green olympic made no difference in my mind. i just regarded it as an interesting way to sort garbage. but when a few days later i raised my hands high up and was eager to be a member of "the communist youth league’s epd group", i told myself firmly, "it’s a great way to make contribution to the 2008’s beijing." maybe this is why i have that much passion on this great action. in the following months, we have activities such as picking up all the plastic things which are surrounded our school together with our teacher. we were all very e_cited about this meaningful thing. we also set up special dustbins for used batteries, so that we can both pollute less and recycle more. when seeing all the plastics and the batteries were carried on the truck which was going to the recycle factory to handle these things, we were all very happy about it. everyone forgot all the hardness. to let the dream of" green beijing" come true, all of us should give a hand. "i’ve do something great for you beijing," what a great sentence!

and at the same time, the actions of protecting the environment are going on, too. my father changed all the taps in my family into saving-water ones, and all the water we use are recycled for at least 2 or 3 times. i always can hear this ad on cri, it says, "5 million children died each year, just for the drinking water." so, help us to make the world safer. although my actions are rather small, but i think with all of you guys help, there will be a strong power.

the color green gives the olympic game a deeper meaning, green is in flowers, grasslands and in trees; green is in the sky, in the earth and in the sunshine. but to my opinion, green’s also in our minds, in our smiles and in the great love.

once in an activity which was to plant trees for the community, every planter got a card to hang out on the tree with writing a few meaningful words. do you know i have written what? that is:

燦爛未來(lái) 綠色希望

清晨綠色的陽(yáng)光透過(guò)溫柔的葉子灑向大地，年輪中曾經(jīng)青澀的時(shí)光向未來(lái)講述著美麗的傳說(shuō)，奧運(yùn)五環(huán)中的綠色像溫暖的擁抱明亮的光環(huán)籠罩在北京蔚藍(lán)的天空下。隨著第29屆奧運(yùn)會(huì)的臨近，我們北京的每一個(gè)市民都像是綠色奧運(yùn)使者一樣，越來(lái)越熱愛我們的北京，越來(lái)越關(guān)心周圍的環(huán)境。我們因自己是北京人，可以向每一個(gè)外國(guó)友人展示北京的風(fēng)采而感到驕傲。而這樣一次又一次的感動(dòng)中，我看到草地更綠了，藍(lán)天清澈了，一棵棵的小樹苗在溫柔的微風(fēng)中茁壯成長(zhǎng)。這是我的家，這是美麗的北京，這里寄托這綠色的奧運(yùn)希望。

綠色為奧運(yùn)會(huì)的舉辦賦予了更深廣的含義，綠色是花，是草，是樹；綠色是天，是地，是陽(yáng)光；可是在我心里，綠色更是心，是笑，是愛。

在社區(qū)舉辦的每一次植樹活動(dòng)中，每個(gè)植樹者都會(huì)自己制作一個(gè)小牌子并寫上自己對(duì)未來(lái)的希望，在和爸爸媽媽一個(gè)上午的努力過(guò)后，我在牌子上寫到：

"成長(zhǎng)快樂！"

today, my speech is "i am the part of the green olympics".

"green olympics" is one of the three themes of beijing 2024 olympic games. therefore the beijing government had made a great effort in order to protect the environment, build more "green project", keep the ecological balance, push the recycling economy, and protect the water resource. but if only the government take the action to realize the green olympics in 2024, its not enough. as a beijing high school student, we should play an active role in the actions aimed at the realization of green olympics. so we should start it from ourselves, our family, our friends and other people around us.

in 2001, in the moscow world trade center, when the former chairman of the international olympic committee, samaranch had said: "beijing, china!" as a beijing citizen, as a chinese, i had a great joy for my city, for my home country from the bottom of my heart! but after the e_citement that beijing had been succeed in the race to host the olympic game in 2024. i started to worry about the dusty air, the sandstorm, the polluted rivers and lakes; the streets without any green and whether we could successfully host the olympic games in 2024.

four years later, today, we can see 229 day blue sky in one year, we can hardly catch a glimpse of the sandstorm, groups of wild duck comes back to shishahai lake in the spring, and all the streets are dressed in green. all these make me deeply believe that beijing will surely succeed in 2024! and all these achievements are not only the result that made by the beijing government, but also by the 14 millions beijing citizens. as one of the 14 millions normal citizens, i am also adding my contribution to our green olympic!

i used to have a habit, which is to take two longtime showers every day. it was a big waste of water. one day, i saw a piece of news in beijing daily that about the lack of the beijing water resource. its said every year beijing use up about 3.7 billions cubic meter of water. but miyun reservoir only contains 0.77 billions cubic meter of water, and guanting reservoir only contains 0.19 billion cubic meter of water. this shows we are really short of water now! after reading this news, i start to change my habit, and only take one quick shower each day. i have calculated that if everyone economizes one cubic meter of water during they are taking the shower in a month; the beijing citizens will economize 14 million cubic meter of water in only one month! in 2004, as the beijing irrigation apartment reported that since 2001 beijing has succeeded in the application of hosting the olympic game in 2024. beijing government had started 26 programs in order to economize the water resource. after 3 years doing this, these programs have saved 0.437 billions cubic meter of water. its as big as a four-sized huairou reservoir! and now, in my daily life, in my family, we always think about protecting the environment and saving the resource whenever we doing what. the batteries, the aged newspapers, the empty glass bottles and all the recyclable garbage, we will classify them then put them in different trash cans; we make the most use of the nature light and shut off the electrical light conveniently; and when we shopping, we will bring a nylon bag with us instead of plastic bags; during the feast, i do not send any card in order to protect the forest resource; after washing the clothes, we wont dump the used water but use it to flash the toilet… all in all, we should start from every little thing around us to truly realize the "green olympic".

綠色奧運(yùn)是北京2024年奧運(yùn)會(huì)的三大理念之一。為此北京市政府無(wú)論是在環(huán)境的治理、綠化的建設(shè)、生態(tài)的保護(hù)、循環(huán)經(jīng)濟(jì)和水資源的保護(hù)與利用，都做了大量的工作。但實(shí)現(xiàn)"綠色奧運(yùn)"僅僅靠政府行為是遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)不夠的，作為北京的中學(xué)生更應(yīng)該積極的投身到"綠色奧運(yùn)"的建設(shè)與宣傳當(dāng)中去。從我做起，從我的家庭做起，從我身邊的朋友、同學(xué)做起。

2001年，當(dāng)前國(guó)際奧委會(huì)主席薩馬蘭奇在莫斯科高聲宣讀："beijing， china"的時(shí)候，作為一個(gè)北京人，一個(gè)中國(guó)人，我發(fā)自心底的為我們的祖國(guó)，我們的首都感到高興。但在高興之余，那灰蒙蒙的天空，那漫天的沙塵暴，那污綠的護(hù)城河，那見不到一絲綠色的街道，又使我深為北京能否在2024年成功辦好奧運(yùn)而感到擔(dān)心。

四年之后的今天，一年之中有了229天湛藍(lán)的天空，那滾滾的黃塵也早已不見，那一群群久違的野鴨也在春天飛回了北京的什剎海，街道也被綠色裝點(diǎn)的生機(jī)勃勃。這一切不知不覺的變化都在回答著我，北京一定能辦好2024年的奧運(yùn)！而所有這些變化不僅僅是北京市政府的努力，更是在政府領(lǐng)導(dǎo)下的無(wú)數(shù)北京市民們努力的結(jié)果。作為這一千多萬(wàn)普通北京市民的一員，我也在為我們的綠色奧運(yùn)貢獻(xiàn)出自己的一份力量。

以前我曾有個(gè)習(xí)慣，每天早晚沖澡兩次，而且沖洗時(shí)間特別長(zhǎng)，很浪費(fèi)水。一天，我在北京日?qǐng)?bào)上看到了一則關(guān)于北京水資源短缺的文章，說(shuō)北京市每年用水量大概是37億立方米，而密云水庫(kù)的蓄水量?jī)H有7.7億立方米，官?gòu)d水庫(kù)的蓄水量?jī)H有1.9億立方米，水資源的供需矛盾十分尖銳?？吹竭@則報(bào)道后，我開始改變我的習(xí)慣，每天只洗一次澡，盡量在很短的時(shí)間內(nèi)洗完。我算了一筆帳，每人每月洗澡節(jié)約一噸水，北京市1400萬(wàn)人口將節(jié)約1400萬(wàn)噸水。據(jù)北京市水利局2003年統(tǒng)計(jì)數(shù)字表明，從2001年申辦奧運(yùn)成功后，開始實(shí)施市政府制定的26項(xiàng)節(jié)水措施，3年來(lái)節(jié)水達(dá)到4.37億立方米，相當(dāng)于4個(gè)懷柔水庫(kù)。現(xiàn)在，在我的生活中，在我的家庭里，環(huán)保、節(jié)約的思想和行為時(shí)常都有體現(xiàn)。電池、報(bào)紙、玻璃瓶、油壺等可回收物，我們是分別處理、存放；購(gòu)物、買菜的口袋使用尼龍口袋，基本不使用塑料袋；洗衣的水重復(fù)使用于沖洗馬桶……而實(shí)現(xiàn)綠色奧運(yùn)也正是應(yīng)該從身邊的這些小事做起。 我們清楚的記得在2004年的雅典奧運(yùn)會(huì)上，當(dāng)劉翔登上領(lǐng)獎(jiǎng)臺(tái)時(shí)，他頭上戴了一個(gè)由橄欖枝編成的頭環(huán)。這綠色的橄欖枝不正是代表著"綠色奧運(yùn)"嗎？橄欖枝象征著和平，而奧運(yùn)正是傳遞"和平"的載體，我們不能簡(jiǎn)單的理解"沒有戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)就是和平"。"人與自然和諧相處"也是"和平"最本質(zhì)的含義。"節(jié)約資源、保護(hù)環(huán)境"這種追求"人與自然和諧相處"的具體行為正是奧林匹克精神的具體體現(xiàn)。所以我們說(shuō)：和平是奧運(yùn)的靈魂，奧運(yùn)是和平的載體，綠色奧運(yùn)是我們從更高的境界在追求和平。當(dāng)偉大的精神被"平凡"廣泛的具體化以后，這種精神就被弘揚(yáng)和光大了。

green-colored sunshine shining though soft leaves, all the green days in the growth rings" telling legend to the future and the past. these green hopes in the olympic rings are just like warm hugs and brilliant haloes under the blue sky of beijing. as the 29th olympic game which is held in beijing is coming up soon, every citizen in our city is a messenger of green olympic, we love our city and care more and more about our environment. in those lovely smiling face, i"m touched deeply for all the efforts we make. i can see the grassland is greener; the blue sky is beautiful and clean, and every little tree is growing happily in warm and gentle breeze. this is my hometown, this is beautiful beijing, and there place the green olympic hopes on.

thinking about a few years ago, when i saw the ta_onomic dustbin in our community for the first time, the green olympic made no difference in my mind. i just regarded it as an interesting way to sort garbage. but when a few days later i raised my hands high up and was eager to be a member of "the communist youth league"s epd group", i told myself firmly, "it"s a great way to make contribution to the 2008"s beijing." maybe this is why i have that much passion on this great action. in the following months, we have activities such as picking up all the plastic things which are surrounded our school together with our teacher. we were all very e_cited about this meaningful thing. we also set up special dustbins for used batteries, so that we can both pollute less and recycle more. when seeing all the plastics and the batteries were carried on the truck which was going to the recycle factory to handle these things, we were all very happy about it. everyone forgot all the hardness. to let the dream of" green beijing" come true, all of us should give a hand. "i"ve do something great for you beijing," what a great sentence!

and at the same time, the actions of protecting the environment are going on, too. my father changed all the taps in my family into saving-water ones, and all the water we use are recycled for at least 2 or 3 times. i always can hear this ad on cri, it says, "5 million children died each year, just for the drinking water." so, help us to make the world safer. although my actions are rather small, but i think with all of you guys help, there will be a strong power.

the color green gives the olympic game a deeper meaning, green is in flowers, grasslands and in trees; green is in the sky, in the earth and in the sunshine. but to my opinion, green"s also in our minds, in our smiles and in the great love.

once in an activity which was to plant trees for the community, every planter got a card to hang out on the tree with writing a few meaningful words. do you know i have written what? that is:

"happy growing!"

"happy growing!" to every little tree in our green dreams.

"happy growing!" to the changing beijing!

first, yellow is a meaningful color. the yellow river is china"s mother river and the descendants of the yellow emperor. this color has a special origin and great significance for the chinese people. beijing is the capital of new china and previously the capital for nine dynasties in chinese history. so, yellow will naturally add splendor to the 2008 games.

i was born in beijing and live in beijing, and i love beijing very much. when i heard that beijing will have a chance to hold the 2008 olympic games i feel very happy and e_cited, and i hope i can do something useful to build beijing into a beautiful and energetic city.

in the twenty-first century, environment is becoming more and more important, so we have "green olympic" as a slogan. of course slogan is just a goal, the most important thing is we should do some things to make it true. such as assort the trash, save the energy and so on. we are still students now, so we can"t do anything really big. but if everybody does something good for our environment we could make beijing more beautiful.

in fact the things we can do are easy. like not littering the useless batteries everywhere, assort the trash which we want to throw away, and also protect the animals and plants around us, because they are important parts of the energetic beijing.

luckily i had a chance to take part in an activity that is we planted 5 trees in our campus. my classmates and i worked very hard. this activity doesn"t only plant trees, but also contribute to our environment. look at the trees, i believe, tomorrow there will be more trees and flowers standing in beijing and give beijingers a beautiful environment.

we are all chinese people, live on the earth. we have only one capital, just like we have only one earth. if we don"t beautify our environment, who will? good environment depends on good human consciousness. we should say that protecting our surroundings is not easy. that"s why i"m standing here to summon people do it.

the 2008 olympics games is coming, this is a chance for us to show the good environment we have to other people. if we do from the bottom of our heart, beijing"s tomorrow will be more brilliant it will have blue skies, cleaner rivers. who don"t want beijing to become more and more beautiful? if we do our best, tomorrow will be better!

let"s start with the very simple question: do you know the tree coverage rate of beijing? well, the recent numerical value is 49.9%. it sounds much, but is there simply one tree that was planted by you? if there is, let"s say you"re really great. but if not believe me you are not alone cuz it"s rather difficult for us students to get involved in such activities. well, i think now we all realize that all that we"ve done for the green is just about claiming or declaring, painting or advertising. however what i"m fully convinced is that someday ten years ago you must have stepped onto the grassland in the early spring and i"m sure that some of you (especially girls) must have unwittingly picked up dandelions by the roadside and gently blew their parachute like seeds into the fragrant breeze. by the time our lives can be counted by decades, what have we done for our mother nature?

before you get lost in speculation, please follow me and try considering some other questions: put up your hands if you have watched the olympic games? (of course you have or else you wouldn"t be sitting here) nonetheless how many of you had the e_perience of sitting in front of the television waiting for the games of the unable people? i think now we can draw the conclusion that we concern the olympic games mostly for entertainment.

have you found out that the linkage between the olympic games and the green environment is that we almost do nothing really helpful to either of them! what now i want to tell you is very realistic i wrote them from the core of my heart so please believe me they are my true feelings.

last summer when i had just finished the high school entrance e_amination, i came up with the idea of not using air conditioners in that coming summer. then i had an e_traordinarily hard time controlling myself and had suffered from having more than one air conditioners in sight yet cannot make use of them. every time i caught sight of them i told myself that i was doing something quite valuable. finally autumn came and to my surprise i had made it! you know how e_cited i was? i really felt very proud of myself. sounds ridiculous right? however, will all of you here join me to do this ne_t year, will you? i hope so. because i feel deeply upset every time when i see my parents waste a lot of water and i don"t know why i"m e_tremely concerned about the protection of environment and the reservation of natural resources since i was young. my mother was against me on whether to mention her in my speech nevertheless i consider it very common among you and maybe your parents. in the past i didn"t dare to ask others to turn off the faucet while not using them because i was afraid of being described as stingy, am i? stinginess is to resources what responsibility is to the society. it"s about time we aroused the social awareness of environment protection. doesn"t the realization of our green dream and olympic dream both start from that?

because all the beautiful words seem to be so pale and feeble compared with practical actions and i don"t like to say sentences like "start right from myself" so let"s change it to a more romantic one: the mission of turning the green within our heart and soul into the lu_uriantly green scenery out of the window is bound to cross the boundaries between nations, continents and racial groups, from olympia to the great wall and finally fall on our shoulders by the year 2008.

my favorite description of the olympic games is the celebration of mankind. but now i want to propose a small change, which is to be: olympics of mankind, celebration of green nature.
